Very good food with attentive staff.

  • *****

Excellent authentic tasting dishes. Great service, very accommodating

  • *****

Best Chinese food in the world. Better than any kitchen in actual China.

  • *****

food always taste fresh, I'm not a fan of white rice but this place makes very fluffy and flavorful white rice, my favorite dish shrimp and tofu chopsuey

  • *****

Great selection of Chinese cuisine. Most dishes are around $11-$15.

  • *****

This spot constantly delivers. They serve fantastic dishes for affordable pricing, there are no long waits even when they are loaded.

  • *****

Great people nice area good food and smile fun God bless you ???

  • *****

Owned long time by a brother and sister from Hong Kong, this place offers very authentic Cantonese homemade style dishes. Personable service. Just renovated, it feels brighter and happier. Coming here to eat feels like going back to those Cantonese restaurants I used to love back in China.

  • *****

I am so pleased with my meal. My order was so fresh and overall delicious. I'm coming back soon.

  • *****

Stopped by this restaurant to pick up take out for the first time. The taste of the food was authentic chinese and while I was there, I noticed other individuals ordering from here, so there was a constant flow of customers meaning the food was notably fresh. Currently they are take out only with one door open to handle ordering and another to process pickup. Staff was friendly and I look forward to picking up food from here of ever stopping at the 99 Ranch next door.

  • *****

First time here, a recommendation from my sister family style meal. Grandsons were totally amazed & loved the food !

  • *****

Love this place. We always get the fillet of fish with sweet and sour and the honey walnut shrimp. The porridge is good and the staff is friendly and attentive.

Overall food was good, good flavors and nice portions. What was a rip off was when we ordered 2 scrambled eggs for my 2 year old great nephew and we got a dozen scrambled eggs that were partially uncooked. We got billed $10.95 for eggs. Had we ordered a dozen eggs that would have been justified. It was made clear to the waiter that the 2 scrambled eggs were for a kid, why they'd make a dozen I don't know. Why they weren't cooked all the way and so much grease or oil was used that maybe just 1/2 an egg was consumed. My niece picked out the cooked egg for him. I'm not saying eggs were
raw, but they were soft. Kids should not eat uncooked eggs. They had brought out all the food and we had to ask for the scrambled egg for my great nephew. I won't be going back anytime soon. The food was good but not worth a trip. I have a niece in Gardena which is why we went.

Great services and the food is very tasty, it is true Tasty kitchen. Love it !!!

  • *****

The best ??? I’ve ever had, including places I went in China. It is far from where I live or work but I will give myself an excuse to go that direction and have a moment of satisfaction

  • *****

Good solid Cantonese food. Been coming here for years. I always stop here when in the area.

Shared beef chow fun, sauted green beans, mapo tofu, & salt & pepper pork chops.

Being a self professed chow fun expert, this one is pretty good. Some places don't have enough sauce/flavoring on the rice noodles. This place gets it right. Tender beef, bean sprouts, sliced onion just right.

Everything was great... except the mapo tofu. Not sure whether they left the pork out thinking it's vegetarian? Or for whatever reason, mapo should have ground pork or pork strips, right? It really missed the mark in my opinion. Missing the flavor big time... It's like the "healthy" Chinese restaurant in Los Al that doesn't have pork on the menu. Why? And no they aren't Muslim or Orthodox Jewish.....

  • *****

Great service and food, diner style inside, Peking duck was perfect. Fair prices.

  • *****

Flavorful and authentic tasting. Not expensive. Service was good. Looking forward to going back.

  • *****

Pretty tasty and great service. The guy was super friendly and keep on checking on our needs. We order dinner foods for lunch instead since we got a full crowd with us on that day.

  • *****

It's hard to describe how good everything was my fiance and my best friend and myself enjoyed a fabulous lunch there while on vacation and would recommend this place to anybody the service was fantastic too

  • *****

Good Chinese food at a good price. The place is not really fancy but it the food makes up for it. The portions are also generous for the price of it. Will go back again and would recommend.

  • *****

It was amazing! Got a variety with my friends on a trip. Everything hot and fresh. Got it within 5 minutes!

  • *****

Had some really great food here, tried the mandarin pork chop, beef chow fun, eggplant with garlic sauce, chicken with black bean sauce, and orange chicken, hot and sour soup, along with a good rendition of chicken and orange sauce.

  • *****

Newly remodeled restaurant. Cute, pretty and friendly. These cushioned booths and chairs are very comfortable. Also, lunch pricing is very reasonable and delicious. Lots of parking. You will be pleasantly delighted.

  • *****

Tonight was the first night we had dinner at Tasty Kitchen. The food and service were both very good. Try the fried cod and spicy green beans are very tasty. We definitely will be back.

Clean, delicious food, kindly serving, and reasonable price.

  • *****

Great "to go" Chinese cuisine! Could also be good eat in but we made a to go order.

Very good Peking Duck and soups also very good.

    Friendly staff, too.

From a "to go" perspective it's a little pricey but well worth it. Will be a repeat customer.

This isn't your typical american chinese restaurant, this is the Real Thing. It is absolutely delicious! My sister in law from hong kong confirms the taste is legit here. My personal favorite is the Szechuan food here. It's spicy and it will melt your mouth. I understand this probably isn't for everyone but they have a ton of other options that aren't spicy at all such as the salt and pepper pork chops. Also, portions are large. I think 2 dishes can feed 2-3 people.

My family occasionally gets take-out Chinese food from Tasty Kitchen because it is close to our house and not too expensive. We usually order 4-5 dishes and share them. This time we ordered the Kung Pao chicken, shrimp with garden greens, chicken fried rice, fish with black bean sauce, and the house special pan fried noodles. The Kung Pao chicken is pretty standard. It's nice and flavorful and has a nice accompaniment of onions and peppers. I love the fried rice because it has a good salty flavor and isn't dry like some Chinese rice dishes. The fish with black bean sauce is one of my favorite dishes as well; it's soft white fish with a delicious umami sauce. I would not recommend getting the shrimp with garden greens; it tasted fine but there were only a handful of shrimp and a tonnnnn of bok choy. It was also the most expensive because it had shrimp. Our last dish, the pan fried noodles, is usually something I love too but this time the noodles were a little stale and oily, which was super disappointing. The flavor is great and the sauce has all different kinds of meat which is fun, but the stale crunch just leaves you wanting more. But overall, solid Chinese take out place.

  • *****

Good Chinese food. Soups are good.

  • *****

There is a change in ownership. They have added some Szechuan style dishes to the original lineup which is a welcome change. Added reasons to continue to come. Still the most convenient place to get a Chinese food fix.

  • *****

We go there a lot ! When we around the Gardena Area, usually with family and friends for dinner!

  • *****

Great place for Chinese food in the South Bay

  • *****

I've been ordering takeout and the food seems legit, chicken or pork chow mein with pan fried noodles (HK style) and beef stew curry rice.

  • *****

Best spot for orange peel beef. Get it extra crispy and extra spicy, you won't regret it!

  • *****

Love this place, service was great. The food is excellent. They are very accommodating when you ask to change spicy level of dishes. Portions are extremely generous. You may have to take some home with you.

  • *****

Great Chinese food. Another one of my good home cooked recommendations. Nice portions not to pricy.

  • *****

This place was really good. I reccomend going.

  • *****

Every time when I feel homesick i will come to this lovely restaurant. Not all the food is good enough, but I vote for the beef crew and yun tun noodle and fried beef with garden greens. Waitresses are so nice that I feel I was at home town. After the meal, they offer free dessert, such as mango pudding. Thank you.

  • *****

My go to Chinese food in my area. Can't go wrong with their salt and pepper pork chops. New management and staff are nice.

  • *****

I use it as an easy lunch place. It's clean, affordable, and the food is good.

  • *****

Great lunch specials and reasonable. The fried flounder is excellent. I also recommend the beef stew with wonton soup.

  • *****

Fast service, love their wonton soup, family friendly

  • *****

Great Chinese food at reasonable prices.

  • *****

Definitely better now then a few years ago. We had the kung poa chicken and the hot garlic chicken. The kung pos was excellent except not as spicy as we like it. The hot garlic chicken has the best sauce. It truly makes it. Fast service and clean.

  • *****

Don't be turned off by the appearance of the restaurant in a little strip mall. The food is very good and the service is friendly. Spicy salt pepper pork and shrimp is great and egg foo young.

  • *****

Everything is Delicious. I have been here for many times

  • *****

Tasty Kitchen is another one of those non-descript restaurants in a street mall, off of a busy street. It's not gourmet fare, but very solid for a very decent price. The food is good -- we've had everything from their eggplant in spicy sauce, a couple of chicken dishes, and the standard broccoli beef (it's actually beef, not tenderized shoe leather). The chow mein is done properly -- the pan-fried crispy noodles are properly packaged separately from the sauce, and is quite good. We normally do takeout so I can't comment on what it's like to dine there. It looks like a comfortable, not-too-fancy place to have a meal which we'll need to try sometime soon. A good place to have in the neighborhood.

  • *****

The food here is second to none.....but the service was very slow. Came during lunch hour and had to wait 30 minutes before getting our food. Definitely need to hire more waitress in order to have repeat customers in near future.
We will be back because food is excellent, but if you only have 1 hour of lunch, give yourself plenty of time.

  • *****

The best restaurant for a small party or family dinner/lunch. My 10 years old daughter is very picky to choose a restaurant, she likes their food specially the "sweet and sour chicken", now she decided she will have her next birthday dinner there(we let her to pick any restaurant she want on her birthday), that is a big decision for her. Reasonable prices and great customer service. Highly recommend restaurant.

  • *****

Like it. Just got sold but still good. Convenient location

  • *****

Cook with pure Chinese cooking skill and affordable lunch special deals. Well-lighted always and clean looking around the restaurant. Popular to-go meals and good tables for party.

  • *****

We're satisfied with the dishes, price and service.

  • *****

Pretty decent and legit for not being in the 626. Had fish fillet in spicy sauce and it was spicy yet could still taste the fish. Very tender. Would go back

  • *****

Haven't been here in awhile. But glad I came back. Still great Chinese food. I had the roasted duck and it was delicious. Going to try the crispy garlic chicken next time (it looked delicious).

  • *****

small Chinese diner with very sweet and helpful staff. everything was pretty simple and standard but the staff was really amazing and super attentive. the food for what it was, was pretty decent. wouldn't be a place that would be top on our return list..

  • *****

Good food and fast service. We told the waitress we were in a hurry, and she considered that and deliver a prompted service. I highly recommend this place. It looks very clean, neat , not too noisy (although we when during lunch hour), and the food was really delicious. Honey walnut Shrimps were yummy!

  • *****

Authentic chinese food, chinese ownership, and most customers are chinese which is a good sign of great food. Good service. Good prices.

  • *****

My family and I love this place. We have been coming here for years! Authentic, down home Chinese food. They have got all our favorites.

  • *****

The best Chinese food in Gardena. Every dish very tasty just like their name suggests. You won't go wrong in this restaurant.

  • *****

We love this place, food is delicious ,service is good,a lot of parking.

  • *****

We loved our meal. We ordered bbq pork, chicken fried rice, beef stew and noodle soup, and orange chicken. The food wasn't overly done or overly sauced or salted. The flavors were simple, light and truly tasty. We enjoyed it and will be definitely coming back for more.

  • *****

Really good basic Chinese food. Never had a bad dish. Salt and pepper pork and fish in black bean sauce are consistently good. Great for lunch or dinner.

  • *****

I love the pork chop at this restaurant and so do my whole family. We have tried several places but found this to be the best! Their chicken noodle is also good. I would recommend this place for those who love pork chop.

  • *****

Great place! Great service and apparently very authentic according to some of the visitors from China. I always look forward to coming here.

  • *****

If you're craving for some authentic Chinese food, this place will satisfy you and more! We were in the area doing some shopping in the same plaza and grabbed some food to go.

I highly recommend their roast duck, the meat was really juicy and flavorful -- everything you would expect! My other favorite is their seafood pan-fried noodle because the noodles are really crispy and goes well with their sauce!

Prices are reasonable and your food will be ready in 15-20 minutes. Credit card accepted and plenty of parking!

  • *****

Ate here on the recommendation of the manager in another Chinese restaurant. We used to be regulars at PV Palace in Lomita until they (sadly) closed. Tried a couple of other places, looking for a new go-to place, with mediocre results. Very happy with Tasty Kitchen! The prices are consistent with other Chinese restaurants in the area, but the portions are very generous. The place is very clean and the staff were incredibly friendly and attentive. Big menu with all the usual dishes you would expect. Very easy access off the 110 Fwy on Artesia. Highly recommend it to anyone in the South Bay area.

  • *****

I ordered online through yelp! yay! Prices here are reasonable for authentic Chinese food. I've had the salt and pepper shrimp, squid and the whole fried salt and pepper tilapia. Around $30 for it all including rice and egg drop soup. Hot, fast and delicious! the only con would be is they don't include any dipping sauces. I'm sure they have some but if you don't ask for it specifically you wont get any. Next time, I'll ask them to suggest a sauce or something to go over the rice. But its worth a try for anyone who hasn't visited! you wont be disappointed. "fingers crossed"

So my husband is Chinese and I used to live in the 626 ( I was the token white person in my group of friends). I grew up eating really good authentic Chinese food. I love coming here and so far there has only be one dish that I did not like. Now I know you will be saying but you can get better/cheaper food in the 626 and you are correct but some days I don't want to drive 38+ miles to get noodles or fried rice or any of the other yummy dishes that I love. And trying to find a good authentic Chinese restraunt, that is not super expensive in Gardena/Torrance is really hard. But I finally found one. I love the crispy noodles in gravy (that is a must) and the beef with veggies, the pork chops, the fish with ginger and onion are great.... wow this review is making me hungry. There was only one dish off the lunch menu that I thought was not a great value and it was the beef in black pepper sauce. We got like 9 pcs of meat for $9.00. My mum who also likes chinese loves the BBQ pork fried rice.

  • *****

This is arguably my favorite Chinese spot in the South Bay. It serves some authentic comfort food Chinese dishes that aren't your standard westernized sweet and sour pork, although they have that too. You can't really escape the high prices of average Chinese food in the South Bay but I feel this place is probably the most reasonable so far. There are lunch specials, even on the weekends. They also know how to modify their dishes to accommodate for food allergies, which is a 5 star in my books because that means that they know how to make their own food and it doesn't come out of a package. Just recently they added English speaking servers, making it much 10x easier to order to go on the phone.

Located in the 99 Ranch plaza so I'd like to think the ingredients are fresh. :)

  • *****

OMG! Soooooo good! It tastes like 'home cooking'!
I ordered the chicken fried rice and the mushroom/pork noodle soup to go. I was just supposed to take a quick taste and head home BUT I couldn't stop eating the dishes until full!

You WILL NOT be sorry! ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS!

  • *****

My favorite fried rice is here! Always order Tasty Fried Rice!

    Duck is great too.

Today was a lil disappointing as they made a mistake on taking my order.
I ordered Tasty Fried Rice as usual. I got sometging different..I asked if this was Tasty fried rice.. she said yes. I was like no, unless they changed their recipe.
Finally she came back to tell me I ordered chef's special fried rice.. I was like wth..
They changed it out. I don't order any other fried rice so, i know what I said.

Anyway, i took 1 star off today for this. Plus they gave us hot tea when we didn't order n still got charged for it..

    Will be back again...

Like noted, this serious light (oxymoron?) Cantonese style food. My officemate, who's from Hongkong, swears by this place. I think its a 3.75, but is good for the South Bay. Its a simple repast, of good quality. We always get the fried squid in salt and pepper and beef tenderloin with string beans, or the tilapia in ginger and spring onions. I'm Filipino, but it does taste like comfort food to me, too.

  • *****

Ate here with my 6 other girlfriends and everyone loved it! When it comes to good food, atmosphere isn't important to us. Who cares if it's located in a strip mall?? The chasu chow mein with crispy noodles was soooo tasty. We also had the lobster special, 2 lobsters for $19.99 cooked in chefs sauce, it was delicious! Cod in black bean sauce was very good, so were the string beans and eggplant. The only dish I wasn't crazy about was the peking duck, but I have to be fair and mention that I really don't care for duck anyway! The waiter was super nice. Can't wait to go back!

  • *****

well wuddayaknow. Decent Chinese food in my hood. My mom takes out food from here and said it's good. I was hankerin' for some Chinese food but didnt want to drive too far... because I'm lazy so I talked my neighbor into going with me. What a nice surprise. The food was yummy. The salt and pepper fish... oh yeah... mama likes. Pieces of fish fried to a golden brown and topped with green onions, cooked garlic and jalapenos. Salt and pepper? There was salt on it but maybe the pepper they are referring to is the jalapenos. It's not spicy though unless you take a bite of the pepper. We also had the beef with ginger, green onion and black bean. The beef was tender and not chewy like other places. The 3rd dish was the chicken chow fun (dry). I liked this dish. The flavor was subtle. Go for the wet if you want more flavor. The portions are good. I think I found a new Chinese restaurant when I get the craving. Thank goodness for leftovers.... no thank me for not eating everything last night so that I can have leftovers. Chinese food tonight!

I just came here for my first time and my impression is that this place is a mom and pop establishmemt that has been relatively successful. Decor is a little dated and gives the impression that they just kept adding pieces as business got better and better. Unfortunaetly nothing matches. But who cares it's about the food right? Well the lunch specials run from $7-9 and includes entre, rice, and egg drop soup. I had the spicy garlic eggplant. Can you say yum! Eggplant was cut in niece pieces and not cooked to mush. Came in a rich brown garlic sauce that made me want to order more white rice just to soak up all that sauce. Also had an order of the salt pepper pork that everyone was raving about. It was just ehhhh. Batter fried thin chopped pork chops with a slight dusting of salt then engulfed in chopped fried garlic and jalapenos. Sounds good right? But not as advertised and not what I was looking for. Maybe should have been advertised as salt garlic and jalapeno pork chops. Then it would have probably tasted better. Also my only other gripe about this dish is the pork chop pieces they used were FATTY, like large pieces of fat on yhe chops. I would have preferred a leaner cut. Luckily for this place they have a GIGUANDO menu and I will be coming back again to try many of the other items on there.

  • *****

Love this place...the service is so/so but the food is damn good. The rock cod fillet in spicy salt is soooo yummy!!! Also try their string beans and beef chow fun. It can get crowded at lunch...the tables in the middle are so close to each other that you can share your meal with strangers if you want. This place shares the parking lot with Ranch 99 and you know how that goes...

  • *****

I love this place. I think some people that used to work at Sea Empress in Gardena started this restaurant, which I'm very happy about because I don't really go to Sea Empress anymore. The food here is really good and the prices are reasonable. My favorites are orange chicken/beef, hot and sour soup, crispy noodles with beef, walnut shrimp, fried stuffed tofu, bbq pork noodle soup, and wonton noodle soup. I highly recommend going here.

  • *****

Thank goodness for yelp cause that's the only way we would have even stopped here to eat. We were so surprised that they offerred the lunch deals on a Sunday. As everyone has already mentioned, lunch deals were great. We tried the congee, wonton noodle soup, beef stew wonton noodle soup, 2 plates of dim sum, and lobster. The dim sum I thought was overpriced. But everything else was worth it. The only downside was that the a/c didn't seem to be working until we were almost finished with our meal. They still have that A rating... wondering if they had the a/c on when the inspector came.

  • *****

This place has some great Chinese food! Unfortunately, the service is kind of bad. The people there are Chinese speaking, and it's hard to communicate. It's worth your time, though.

  • *****

I eat here every single week because it is so good. Just like I have stated in my other reviews, I think it is important to order "right" in order to get the best experience. I only order a handful of dishes here which are: Salt and Pepper Pork Chops, Shrimp with Lobster Sauce, Steak with Black Pepper Sauce, and sometimes Lo Mein-type stir fry. I have tried a few other dishes, but they were not up to the wonderful standards of the dishes I mentioned.
This is a full service chinese restaurant in the traditional sense service hot tea, soup, rice, and fortune cookie with your meal. My understanding is that the chef is a "Master Chef" and it really shows. You cannot find a better chinese meal anywhere.
The staff is friendly once you get to know them, but cool otherwise and a bit hurried when they are busy. However, the food comes out very fast and fresh. I did not give 5 stars simply because of the dining room decor and ambience. This is not a fancy looking place located in a strip mall, but the food is out of this world and the prices can't be beat. Most dishes cost around $7 for the whole 9-yards. You won't be disappointed!

  • *****

I've been here three times now in the last two weeks. This place is great for value (ie, value = quality/price) chinese food. We have tried several dishes and all were really tasty. And a lobster lomein for $16! I love very few things more than good noodles. The lobstervore who accompanied me was quite satisfied too. We also liked the chicken claypot rice, very simple yet satisfying.

  • *****

I like their lunch specials. They have all kind of varieties, starting from $5.95 or so (usually $5.95-8.95 depending on what it is). The setting is somewhat old fashioned, but the food is good. It was recommended by my friend, and I have been going time to time. I like their orange chicken, fried rice and mabo tofu (spicy, yeah!).

  • *****

The food here is just like the best places in Oakland's Chinatown. My favorites are the Diced Chicken and Salty Fish Fried Rice, Salt and Pepper Pork Chops, and Cod with Ginger and Scallions. They always give you an awesome mango pudding at the end of every meal. I've been in LA for five years and my wife is a native Chinese from Canton. This is one of only two Chinese places we go to accessible from LA's West Side.

  • *****

Forget ambiance, this place is about food.

OK, it's not Monterey Park good, but this place could comfortably compete in MP and survive. Best in South Bay - better than Sea Empress in terms of taste and value.

I had several lunches in one sitting with a friend. Squid was excellent. at 6.95. Spicy beef dish was equally great -- didn't mean to finish but did. Chicken salad wasn't too great at less than $3, but the size of it was ridiculous. It would cost 12 bucks in West LA area.

I saw people eating noodles and they look tasty. I really need to go back and taste dinner stuff to adequately rate this place -- but the food was good.

This is the kind of local place you find in Taiwan or China where average families go out to eat -- did I already say cheap? I want to bring this chef up to Santa Monica and open up a restaurant for myself.

  • *****

I'm kinda mad at myself for not writing the first review of Tasty Kitchen. It is the best Chinese restaurant in Southern California, and I've known about it for over a year now.

I worked around the corner from there and we'd drop by twice a week for lunch and every other Friday on payday, I'd take home three or four entrees. So I was a regular. All the folks there know me and they know my favorite dishes.

Everything and I do mean everything here is exceptional. There are almost no weaknesses in the menu and I've tried a lot of things. Their walnut shrimp is superb. It's better than Eurochow's. Their salt & pepper fried anything is great. Chicken wings, pork, beef. All excellent. Their black bean sauce is perfect. The duck is heavenly. The fish balls are magnificent. The char shu is sweet and juicy and done just right. The potstickers are even shapely looking. I'm doing this all from memory because I haven't been in months, and now I'm feeling guilty.

They have a big fat menu and I feel the need to get back and explore.

The funny thing is that my friend James would always complain about the fried rice. He'd compare it to the chaufa across the street at Pollo Inka and he liked the way they did it better. So he'd have these semi-embarrassing semi-funny arguments with the manager of the place who took it all in stride while we hid our faces. It became a running joke with our gang.

Me, I just like the extraordinary way they do the sweet and sour beef. It has the consistency of General Tso's done right with a perfect red glaze on the beef. Unique and fabulous.

It's very hard for me to stop picking at the food at Tasty Kitchen long after I am full to bursting. You really must go.

  • *****

we were shopping at sam's club and decided to have late lunch nearby. right across was tastys kitchen (same compound as 99ranch) which had lunch specials for $5-8 - includes soup and rice. we ordered sezchuan pork, beef stew over rice and fried rice w pork&shrimp. they also serve service tea (free) and milk tea boba.
as pointed out by other yelpers, service was slow (reasonably so as they were understaffed) but for the price it was totally worth it. the 3 dish meal was shared between myself, husband and mom (all asians) but we had a lot of leftovers still so ...portions are more than adequate.
oh yeah the decor is a little tacky but when when we saw how busy the place was on a sat after 1pm, we had a feeling the food is the focus here & that we were in for a treat ourselves.
id come back here again for some authentic non greasy chinese food if im in the area again as imho tasty kitchen is probably one of gardena/torrance's best kept secret. :)

  • *****

I usually go there during weekend before I shop at 99 Ranch Market in the same block. Their lunch menu is very inexpensive and tasty. Their cold chicken is great.

  • *****

Home cooking style Chinese food is rare with the proliferation of Panda Express so called Chinese food. Not all Chinese dishes need to be deep fried with a sweet sauce coating it. Everyone now and then I get the urge for some Lobster with ginger & scallions and Tasty Kitchen is the place to go. It's seems to be always on special and it's about 20 bucks for 2 small whole lobsters. PLENTY. You can get authentic dishes like congee or jook (rice porridge). Homyu (steamed pork with salt fish) is a real Cantonese family style dish. Explore the extensive menu for stuff other than the norm. Great unpretentious home style atmosphere next door to Ranch 99 on Artesia at Normandie, 190th St West exit of 110.

  • *****

It's very hard to find good Chinese in the south bay- that tastes as close to that of Chinese food from Chinatown or Monterey Park. Set up similar to a Chinese restaurant from the heavily Chinese saturated areas, this place stir fries up great food.

Fave dish: Pan Fried Noodle w/ Beef in Black Bean Sauce (crispy)

  • *****

"East-side-style" Chinese food in the South Bay. Very authentic Cantonese-style cuisine next to the Gardena 99 Ranch Market. Don't order your generic American-Chinese dishes like kung pao whatever - you can get that anywhere.

The porridges are good, as are the noodle dishes (beef chow fun, wet-style) and some of the special menu dishes, in particular the baby bok choy and mushrooms with soft tofu - delicious.

Not, it doesn't match the 626 for quality, but it comes damn close and that's saying a lot for this neck of the woods.

  • *****

I love to eat here. I probably eat here about once per week (I work close to this place).

The food is excellent. Being of Chinese descent, I can say with absolute confidence that this restaurant serve authentic Chinese cuisine. But here are two great points that everyone should take notice: first, the food comes out fast - once you have placed your order, be ready to begin your dining experience soon; second, lunch special - The lunch specials run between 11AM to 4PM and that is good for everyday of the week. These lunch specials are a slightly smaller version of the regular size dishes, but the prices are extremely reasonable.

I have a few favorite dishes that I would highly recommend: Beef Chow Fun (dry), Prawns with Scramble Eggs, Curry Chicken, Chicken Chow Mien (Hong Kong style).

Did you know that the owner of this place used to work at Sea Empress? Ironically, this beats SE by a mile in price and taste. Sure, the seating isn't as comfortable as SE but if you're looking for decent Chinese food Tasty Kitchen is the place to be.

This is the South Bay so lower your expectations. We don't have choices like in Monterey Park. It's good but it's not THAT good.

As everyone says the food is not bad but not that great. However I think the one thing that makes this place a 4 star to me is the lunch specials.
It is incredibly cheap and you get a lot, great for groups.

My favorite dish is the fried pork chops and the garlic green beans.
I haven't tried this place at any other time than lunch so I don't know how the other stuff on their menu is.

pros... was just out and about on chinese new year, which just happened to be valentine's day as well. we found this place pretty much by accident, and what a great accident it was. nice local, mom and pop place, found just about everybody from the hood here.

now as for the food, we only had 2 dishes, the house fried rice and some bbq pork, we also ordered the sweetened lemon iced tea. all of it delicious. the fried rice was a bit unusual, as it was more a seafood dish, compared to the more terrestrial orders at other places. it is more like a white fried yang chow fried rice. and it wasn't even all that fried, it had the hint of fried, egg whites vs. the whole egg and shrimp, scallops and squid to finish off the order. surprising how yummy it was.

as for the bbq pork, it was great, nice flavor. just a bit too much fat for my tastes but what fat we got was ok. it wasn't too chewy or hard, but the nice soft fat that oozes flavor. had a nice skin on the outside and the meat itself was very soft and tender.

now for my favorite drink, the iced sweetened lemon tea, it was just perfect. cold, sweet and still iced tea. you could taste the sweetness, but it didn't over power the iced tea flavor. unlike other places where the iced tea is covered up by the other flavors, this you can tell was still an iced tea, sweetened, with a lemon flavor. just yummy.

service was ok, typical small chinese restaurant service. quick, to the point, and not much in fussing over their diners. they just ask how many people, seat you down, and give you menus, then they wait. they come back to the table, take your order, and minutes later you get what you ordered. you probably won't hear from them until you are almost done eating. then you get the check and it's done, get the hell outta there. and the bathrooms were actually clean, very clean as my wife put it.

cons... when crowded you will have to share the middle tables. i get that it's a small place, so i understand why. so if you don't like sharing tables, then get a booth or smaller tables around the walls. no a/c in the dining area, but apparently it is in the back of the restaurant, like when you get to the bathrooms. and my old pet peeve which they have no control over, are the small parking spaces outside. they are not only small but this parking lot actually gets packed. and the drivers here tend to lolly gag around as they drive slow, like they don't know where they're going. annoying.

all in all i would go back here again, the next time i'm in gardena.

  • *****

Love this place, the 2nd time here, and it seems to have something for everyone. Lunch gets packed and there seemed to have been short staffed, as the tables were not bussed when my wife and I got there. But the food is good. We ordered the bbq fried rice, some fried spring rolls, garlic chicken, and some drinks.

As is customary, the hot tea pot was first, and then some time to look at the menu. Then the ordering. A few moments later, the food arrived. And the food was good. Our drinks came right after that, I ordered the milk tea Hong Kong style. All was delicious and let me say we didn't have left overs.

Just remember that when you are done, you have to go up to the counter, and let them know. They don't come by with the check. Parking is a bear and unless you have a very small compact car. like I do, you might find your car dinged up.

OK, I was born in Gardena and I've eaten Chinese food since I was born. I grew up on Gung Hay Restaurant , Ting Sing, chop chop kitchen and there was a whole in the wall place (forget the name) in a super market store off of Western. What is not the bus depot location. They all had great chinese food. I've even been to China and eaten real chinese food and I must say that Tastey Kitchen is close to competing with all the above places. It's just so SAD that 3 of the 4 restaurants are closed now. I LOVE Tastey Kitchen and they are a decent replacement. I've been eating her now for over 10 years! You can't go wrong on any order! My favorite is the Kung Pao Chicken and the Shrimp Chopy Suey. I love that they use chinese brocolli and bok choy on the Chop Suey. I totally recommend this place!

Tasty Kitchen has to be the best non-fancy Cantonese restaurant in the South Bay.

ALCOHOL - Beer. Not sure if they have wine.

FOOD - Tasty Cantonese cuisine - try the fish fillet with ginger and green onion, any of the clay pots, pan fried noodles, or tofu dishes. Lunch specials are well-priced too, lots of food.

AMBIANCE - Very basic Chinese restaurant, lots of 2 and 4 seat tables in the center, 4 seat booths on one edge, three 8 seat round tables on the other.

CROWD - Asian freight forwarders during lunchtime, fairly quiet at night.

SERVICE - I'm also surprised by some of the other reviews, I feel service here is very prompt, fast, and friendly for a Cantonese restaurant. I generally feel that Cantonese people complain and yip-yap all the time anyways, but even then, it hasn't happened to me here.

MISC - 99 Ranch next door, Burnt Tortilla across the way. Parking lot can get pretty full sometimes as a result. They do serve dim sum on weekends, but I haven't tried. The guy working here has some huge guns too.

SUMMARY - If you heart Sea Empress you'll double-heart Tasty Kitchen.

+this is good stuff and i will be back! agree with the other reviews that although the south bay is home to some of the best peruvian and japanese around, there isn't much chinese food, which i crave constantly. and no, i'm not talking about orange chicken -- though that's supposed to be good here, i guess?

this place seems legit enough. free pots of tea as a proper chinese restaurant should offer. deep fried whole flounder in soy sauce/green onion was really tasty. the honey walnut shrimp isn't bad, and although $13, comes with a big huuuge pile of shrimp.

and you get all of your food in a flash.

i don't really go to restaurants in order to improve my self esteem so it didn't bother me that the servers weren't falling all over themselves to be nice to me. but everyone was perfectly pleasant.

When we wanted good Chinese food, my dad always went to Tasty Kitchen ... although back in the day it was called Peacock Express, and I do remember the portions and the food being a little bit different. They used to hang cooked duck in a container right at the counter, and I would love just stepping in the restaurant because the smell was pure salty/fatty goodness. When it changed to Tasty Kitchen, I was happy that the food was still everything I used to love ... Cantonese style Chinese food that we don't have to spend a ton of money on, especially during lunch hours. Not the best Chinese food out there, but for the price and the convenient South bay location, this place is great.

Great salt n' pepper fish! Service could have been better but I can see that they at least try. Will still eat here again in the future.

Very good, inexpensive, authentic Hong Kong style cuisine. Have been there many times, never disappointed. Noodles, porridge, clams, shrimp, fish, desserts, all excellent.

  • *****

We came for dinner.. prices were kinda high.. but the portions were good sized.... family style diner type of place... right up my alley.. not hole in wall... not a place I need to dress up either... very nice people running place... they dropped of a pot of jasmine tea and always kept our water refilled... they even offered water refill when we were paying bill. We got the honey shrimp with walnut and the eggplant. Son LOVED the shrimp.. heres my take.. it was exceptionally well prepared and cooked.. but way to sweet... I didnt care for the mayo based honey sauce... I know some like it this way... but to me...it was kinda gross... I would have prefered just a light plain honey to coat the shrimp... maybe with a little bit of capsicum.. but it would have been fine plain.... I had him make the eggplant schezwan (was originally just in brown sauce) and they did very good on it (great sauce I'm sure that would also be great on veggie/chicken dish) It had perfect amount of heat (although I'd love just a few peppers in there so I could get a little extra heat) it was a garlic brown sauce with green onions, bamboo shoots and cut up black mushroom (water chestnuts would have been nice).. it says on menu that there is an extra charge for I guess special things you want done to your order... they charged me less than a dollar more to get it the way I wanted which isnt to bad... as long as I get what I want.
when I come back here I'll come during lunch time so I can get those specials.. that way I can try different dishes for cheaper.

    Very good authentic Cantonese food.

The Hainam chicken - tender and soft and flavorful, I can honestly say it was one of the best prepared Hainam chickens I've ever had. Served with ginger/garlic sauce of course.

The ong choi was good. Crisp and tender shoots, with flavors from the the preserved bean curd (fu-yu) livening this very good side dish.

The salt-pepper pork chop was good. Crisp and tasty like other places.
The clay pot - tofu, minced pork, and salted fish - quite good. Very hot, it did not steal the show, but went well with the rice.

All in all, I'd highly recommend this place as it's the only one I know of in the area for Cantonese food. The Chef is from Sea Empress.

They were a little too generous with the MSG. I'm going to request they use less next time.

I got something to go at Tasty Kitchen a couple of times. The last one was today, 1/20/10. The items I tried were shrimp with walnut, fish porridge with preserved egg, beef chow fun with gravy, filet of cod with black bean sauce, chicken and salted fish fried rice, and oysters with fried egg . I loved all but one. The oysters with fried eggs was not good. Good size portions. The seasonings are good ... for Asians ... lol ... and non-Asians who does not like their salt and pepper. You know who you are.

I've lived in Gardena for about 2 years now and only now that I tried this restaurant. Staff are friendly. It's interesting though. The two times I've been there, there was not anyone eating in, but there's a constant traffic for take out. The place was clean, the usual decor of a chinese restaurant. Perhaps it is busy at lunch. Parking, no problems, plenty in the lot. Next time, I will try some other seafood items.

  • *****

I work near Tasty Kitchen and go there on occasion with co-workers. I've enjoyed everything I've ordered but my favorites are the Beef Chow Fun, Duck, and Eggplant.** Delicious! The flavors at Tasty Kitchen are not overpowering, like some American Chinese food joints, so some palates not accustomed to the delicate flavors of good Chinese food might find their food bland. But I say it's worth a try. Also, it's a good sign when you see tons of Asian people come through the restaurant! Like me! :)

** The Moo Shoo Pork was nothing to rave about however.

  • *****

A friend from work and I have eaten lunch here at least once a week for several years, and we have honestly never once had a bad meal. The value that you receive for your dollar on the lunch specials cannot be overstated. For between $5 and $7 you get a cup of soup, a pot of tea, a bowl of rice, a generously portioned entre and a fortune cookie.

I have sampled practically every dish on the lunch menu, and found everything that I have ever ordered to be delicious. Our favorites are the salt and pepper pork chops, the shrimp with lobster sauce, and the black pepper beef. But trust me, no matter what you order, you cannot go wrong. I have found it impossible to be disappointed here.

This used to be among the best-kept secrets in the South Bay, but alas, word seems to have gotten out. I had selfishly put off writing this review in hopes of staving off the crowds a bit longer, but I have come to realize that I cannot stem the tide of Tasty Kitchen's inevitable draw. The place is a bit of a hole-in-the-wall, and heaven forbid you come between 11:30am and 1pm - there will be a wait - which is not to say that the wait isn't worth it. It is. The place is consistently packed to the rafters for lunch, as well it should be, for the prices are more than reasonable and the food is more than incredible.

The wait staff always seems a bit hurried and frazzled, as one would expect with them having to please so many eager customers during the lunch rush. But this rarely deters them from providing excellent and prompt service. If they forget to bring you a glass of water, or if you require a fork in lieu of chopsticks, a gentle request is all it takes to fulfill your needs.

Once your order is in, the food comes out amazingly quick; hot, fresh, aromatic and tantalizing... your mouth waters. I am nowhere near as poetic as I would need to be to adequately describe the flavorful culinary delights that you will find here. Words alone can do no justice to cooking this masterful - you simply must experience it for yourself.

If I could muster any complaint at all, it would be that I wish they would rinse off the grimy soy sauce bottles once in awhile. But this solitary, nitpicky peeve is but one drop of water in the ocean of greatness that is Tasty Kitchen.

I tend to be a pretty tough customer, and yet Tasty Kitchen receives my highest recommendation. This should tell you all you need to know.

Yay! I love it when someone introduces you to a great place. Came here with Ty D. and not sure why he jipped it a well deserved 4 stars! I really liked how authentic their lunch special was. And the serving size was not humongous, but not skimpy either...4 of us ordered 4 dishes and it was just right. The pork chops were delicious, the fish with creamed corn was tasty, the green beans with minced meat was ok, I think it wasn't the freshest. The tea was good quality too and loved the mango pudding as a sweet treat at the end.

I treated my boyfriend out to lunch yesterday and thanks to Yelp, suggested we try Tasty Kitchen.

Came during the lunch special (around 2:30pm), so the place was empty (except for 2 booths). But the waiter was rushing around, picking up dirty plates, so I figures their lunch time is very busy.

Anyway, just like other Yelpers have mentioned, the service is pretty fast.
You sit-they say hello- place menus, plates, utensils, hot tea on the table- walk away. There is no short conversation here.
Two minutes later they'll ask if you're ready.
The boyfriend and I ordered the Sweet & Sour chicken and chicken and walnut lunch special. Came with a cute bowl of white rice and soup.
The food was orgasmic! Everything had just the right amount of seasoning and flavor. I was skeptical about the Sweet & Sour chicken because other chinese restaurants will make it too sweet. But this one was perfect. Everything came out piping hot and tasted fresh.

What amazed my boyfriend was how inexpensive our meals were. He basically said "f***k panda express, we're coming here from now on!"

Yes, we are coming back here. I really need to try the Beef Chow Fun!

This is my go to place for Chinese food in gardena. I'm still looking for Tin Sing like food, but so far it's not to be found :(. But with that said, this place has great lunch specials. If you have 2-3 people, buy 3-4 lunch specials, the prices are slightly lower then entre and you get rice and soup (corn/egg flower like soup) and sometimes it's pea/carrot/mushroom/tofu egg flower or hot & sour soup which is excellent too. They have a variety of specials too, I especially like combining the young chow fried rice lunch special (shrimp/charsiu/egg) and chicken pan fried noodle special (tell them make it with the soft spaghetti noodle, it's the closest to Tin Sing i can find) with their vegetable and beef special ( the vegetable is gailan, with good beef and ginger) it's really good and I get the Szechuan shredded pork special or the orange chicken. I tried the eggplant in spicy garlic sauce special and it was really good, has a similar flavor to szechuan shredded pork. I'm not a fan of the sweet sour pork here, the order I had had too much batter, not enough pork. But out of all the places in gardena, I like this place the best for flavor and the prices can't be beat. If i'm just hungry for some noodles, I get the bbq pork wonton noodle soup. Someone said it's bland, but I like it a lot. They always give me a lot of bok choy and bbq pork with it. wontons are good, but wish they'd give me some hot mustard with it. Somedays are better then others, but usually pretty consistent. I like that their clientele is predominately Chinese as well, a good sign. Never had problems with service or friendliness, they've always been nice even though I don't speak Chinese and often explain to me what certain dishes contain. Oh and update, parking is really bad now with the 85C on the other corner, but there is a slight parking extension east of the chase bank, i park there and go grab my food. I think it's affecting business as it's less crowded but then again, the flavors have been great since the cook has more time to pay attention with less orders, my pan fried noodles today tasted almost like tin sing's noodles, it had that same flavor base that i remembered, so 5 stars for their great cook.

TK reminds me of typical cantonese restaurant in Monterey Park / San Gabriel - for their poor, slow, unfriendly service. You burn calories just to flag them down, and when you do, waitresses can never remember to bring you back the ice water, or utensils, or anything small you asked for. But when it's time to check out, the tab lands on your table in a flash.

Despite being ignored every time, I keep going back for their awesome Deep Fried Fish, Eggplant in Garlic Sauce, Beef Chow Fun, Clams w/ black bean, Fish Fillet, Salted Fish/Squid.. no dishes have been disappointing.

  • *****

This is the closest thing to Sam Woo in the South Bay! Good food, reasonable prices and pretty clean for a Chinese restaurant. As one of the other reviewers mentioned, dim sum is overpriced, I agree. But the lunch specials are a good deal. Try the beef chow fun, spicy fried pork chops, chicken chow mein, fried flounder, won ton mein with roast duck or beef stew. If you're a regular customer, you might even get free dessert like mango pudding or almond pudding w/lichee on top. The first time we tried this restaurant, we were there 3 times that week. Lobsters are pretty small, but they're tasty with black bean sauce.

You can order Xiao Long Bao here but phone in 15 minutes ahead. It is definitely our Kitchen away from home. Most people who come have been coming here forever and have some kind of camaraderie going with the owners. Dont expect the service to be really good - you come for the food and the fact that its pretty consistent and good for the price.

  • *****

Damn! I LOVE their pan fried noodles w/chicken! I even took a pic of it, but I only remembered halfway so it looks like a small portion. As w/all Chinese Restaurants, portions are quite ample. 1 plate is more than enough for 1 person, but not enough for 2 *winks* I've ordered other meats w/rice and they were all tasty! I live in Carson so even though I can take Vermont and a left on Artesia, it's faster if I take 110N to 91W as it's only a few lights away from there =)

I was looking for a chinese place to take my mom out to eat when I was down there visiting her at gardena and i would say that this place is really good and affordable. The meal plates were a good portion and it was tasty. I would definitely visit this place again

All the food was reasonable good. Price is reasonable.

The service is good with smile all time.

I suggest whoever want to eat good Chinese food but don't expect good renovation.

At least, this place is clean. Washroom need to clean more often.

I love Tasty Kitchen. The owner is so sweet, she recognizes me and my partner every time we show up and chats with us while we order.

Every time I eat there, I try to get something new and the only thing that slightly disappointed was the sweet and sour; but hey, you can get that anywhere. The tofu, chicken and salty fish clay pot is incredible, and I do love their shrimp in house special sauce.

I've taken many friends and family members here and they've always been surprised by the quality of food and service for such a decent price.

In fact, we're ordering from here tonight!

  • *****

I hate to say but I eat here at least 2x a week because it's close enough from work that I can't go one week with NO chinese food. So here's where I can get my fix. I have it only 4 stars because the portion sizes have gotten smaller (both take out and dining in) and the prices have gone up over the last 1.5 yrs. That has not stopped me from going but of course, careful what I order.

Although the food is more Cantonese style, the taste is pretty darn authentic. Here are my votes for some of the lunch specials that you might want to try if you come here...

    1) Hong Sau Tofu (brown sauce with veggies and mushrooms) but it's soft white tofu instead of fried skin on the outside = yummy (bonus is that all specials come with soup and a bowl of rice)
    2) Fish Filet with Black Bean Sauce lunch special
    3) Chicken dishes which is good
    4) Fried Rice is pretty tasty but a little bit on the oily side (which you can ask them to make with less oil but I guess you'll have to venture to see what you get
    5) Veggie dish with garlic chicken (if I remember correctly)

Just like any other fast food chinese restaurant, don't expect customer service to be high on the list but they're still very friendly. Their lemon teas are good and if you add milk tea or lemon tea to your lunch, its' only $1.50 which is less expensive compared to other restaurants.

Oh yeah, they even have chinese steamed dumplings and other tea lunch type dishes that are available if interested.

I freaking love this shit. I have no complains about anything. I love it all, especially the filet of cod with salt and pepper. SO GOOOD. I remember the first time I had it, I woke up suffocating with a dry throat in the middle of the night. Drink plenty of water. So awesome! I also loved their yummy wonton soup :) I'm a fan, and wish that I could go here every week and a half

This strip mall chinese institution is very authentic and delightful. The lunch menu is extensive and very inexpensive. Portions are large.

The special boneless chicken lunch special is amazing and very unique. Served cold, It has amazing flavors. Also, the fish filet with black bean sauce is slightly spicy and very delicious.

Highly recommended if you are in the area!

This is our "go to" place for Chinese food. If we want to show someone "authentic" Chinese food, we'll drive all the way to Tasty Kitchen for some goodness.

The favorite is the lobster, cooked "House Style." But here's the lobster tip...the delivery comes in on Friday. If you're there on Friday, no problem. Weekend night? You'd better call ahead and "reserve" your lobster. It's a 2 minute conversation and you are guaranteed the goodness that is the Tasty Kitchen Lobster (2 for $21--or buy one get one free at $21, depending on how you look at it).

We've also done catering by them and the only problem is that the smells are so good coming from the trunk that we can't get home fast enough.

It's good, authentic Cantonese Chinese food. It's not too intimidating for non-asians to go by themselves, and your Chinese friends will be happy that you aren't calling Panda Express "real Chinese food."

  • *****

It's our family go-to place for good Chinese food. Casual, friendly atmosphere combined with a nice selection of our dabs...green beans, salt and pepper shrimp and Pam fried noodles to name a few. mmmmm

This has been my parent's go to place for Chinese food since they've moved to the South Bay. I've had dinner with them here numerous times and have not been disappointed yet. It's all good here. The lunch specials are great. I love it!

Occasionally, they hook me and my family up with mango pudding for dessert.

Duck.... duck..... duck.... duck.... GOOSE!!! The day started with thoughts of this childhood game from days of yore stuck in my brain. It's bizarre really, the things that float in and out of my noggin, and I can't think of the last time I thought about this game. I must've watched that Family Guy episode recently with Stewie whacking his fellow tykes whist playing Duck Duck Goose. Anyways, I digress. As lunchtime rolled around today, I had a strange craving for roast duck. Go figure. I was thumpin' my brain trying to figure out where to go and it dawned on my that it's been years since I've been to The Tasty Kitchen.

The Roast Duck lunch special came with a generous heaping portion of goodness piled over a bed of pickled cucumber, carrot, and radish. Every morsel was delightful and went perfectly with the bowl of steamed rice, egg flower soup, and hot jasmine tea. My duck craving was amply satisfied, and to top it all off, the whole meal was under $8 including tax. Can't beat that with a bat.

I've been meaning to try this place every time I visit the Ranch 99 market, but for some reasons always ended up somewhere else. I finally overcame my own snobbish-ness (I always thought that any Chinese food outside of Alhambra/Monterey Park area are less than great). This place proved me wrong.

Ordered stir fried Ong Choy (a.k.a. Water Spinach, Water Morning Glory, Water Convolvulus) with shrimp paste (they can make it with plain garlic too), shrimp with candied walnut (by default I call it "honey walnut shrimp"), and soft ribs w/ house special sauce. I absolutely LOVE the ong choy and honey walnut shrimp! The ribs are OK - love the sauce but the ribs themselves are a bit too dry. :(

A HUGE plus: they gave FREE dessert (your choice: mango pudding or almond pudding w/ lychee)! (I would've still given them the 4 stars even without the free dessert).

Service was fast & friendly. We got in, ordered the 3 items, ate dinner & dessert, paid, and left this place in about 30 minutes.

This place takes credit card (I come to expect that most good & authentic Chinese places don't take credit cards), and has plenty of parking spaces.

    Take out service available!

Everything here is soooo good! I am especially loving their chuke (porridge) & the eggplant!! Yummmmmm

Tasty Kitchen has got to be one of Gardena's local staples. I have yet to dine in, but they have a large selection on the menu, and so far, everything I've had there has been excellent!
Among the dishes we have happily feasted upon:
Shrimp with honey glazed walnut (a regular favorite)
Crispy pan fried noodles with shrimp
Filet of Cod with salt & pepper (lightly battered and deep fried, and the fish is very moist & tender!)
Beef with ginger & green onion (we've also had it with the black bean sauce - very tasty either way)
Salt & Pepper Pork Chop - they serve this lightly battered and stir fried. Delicious!
Tasty Boneless Salted Chicken - love the ginger sauce that this is served with
Orange Peel Chicken - not one of my faves, but a hit with the kids
Eggplant in brown sauce with minced pork - oh yummy
    Sauteed string beans
    Deep Fried Tofu
Preserved Egg & shredded duck porridge

What are E-Fu noodles? Whatever they are the experience was fantastic, I can't get it out of my mind.
The soup is excellent. It's light tasting but with deep flavor and very clean aftertaste, so smooth. It's not salty or too bland, no condiments were necessary with this soup for me. It's a small bowl so get it as a side dish or a light meal.

The Wonton noodle soup with egg noodles was good as well. The noodles had plenty of crunchiness (I wouldn't mind more al dente however). Again, the soup was fantastic.
Looks simple, but the soup here is so satisfying.

The Beef with scrambles eggs was very good and hit the spot (Raw eggs scrambled together with beef slices, poured over rice. It's not scrambled eggs on the side like I thought).

    E-Fu noodles....

My mom and I's new happy place for lunch. Our old standby must have changed chefs, because their food became inedible. Here, for less than $10, you can have a scrumptious fried flounder with soup, rice and tea. Or try their perfectly cooked green beans or their take on spicy eggplant. Nice.

My earliest memories of "ethnic" food were going out for Chinese with the family every couple weeks. We'd get the normal stuff, cashew chicken, sweet'n'sour pork, chow mein, fried rice, crispy duck, etc. But my all time favorite was always the honey walnut shrimp. A perfect blend of shrimpy goodness with a dash of sweet sweet lovin. So when the woman had a hankering for Asian porridge, I was excited when I got to relive my childhood at Tasty Kitchen.

I have no idea how authentic this place was. I'm not an expert on real Chinese food at all, but I really enjoyed the meal. Tucked in a nice little strip mall, the place almost seemed like a cheap fast food joint, but then we were seated, given menus and the cheap feeling went away. When it came time for ordering, my girl's porridge filled dreams were crushed when they informed us they were out for the night. Sad but kind of nice to know they have enough people coming to eat all the food. We ended up ordering honey walnut shrimp, mu shu pork and a veggie beefy noodle dish.

After a short wait all our food came out and I was not let down. Nice big portions of everything and quality was not sacrificed by the quantity. First was the beefy noodle thing:

For me, the dish was good but not great. The taste was pretty standard, nothing too strong or weak. The noodles were a little stuck together but that never stops me. Next was the honey walnut shrimp:

    yelp.com/biz_photos/n8jP

This was HELLA good. I was so happy, it was just like my favorite kind back home but better. The shrimp were lightly fried and had just a tiny bit of crunch to them. The honey/mayo sauce was the perfect consistency and had an excellent level of sweetness. The walnuts had a nice thin coating of sugar that didn't overpower the rest of the dish. I will go back here just for this. And lasty, the mu shu pork:

    yelp.com/biz_photos/n8jP

Mu shu pork is basically a Chinese burrito or a giant un-fried egg roll with Hoisin sauce. The thin flour pancakes came out warm and soft. The mix of veggies, egg and pork was a fine blend. That wrapped in a pancake and topped with sauce was the best way to end the meal.

After were had stuffed ourselves good, we were still able to take home over half our food. All that, plus some almond jelly for the girl, came out to be $32. So in the end, great food, great deal and I'll be sure to be back. After some re-thought this is not a five star place. At least it better not be, I'd be sad if this was as good as it gets for cheap Chinese food.

Came to this place with my son based on the reviews on yelp and gotta say the food was pretty good. My son and I shared our orders. He had his usual at any and every Chinese food place he eats at: fried wonton appetizer and sweet and sour chicken. It was good and never thought I would complain about this but, it didn't have enough veggies, mostly chicken, lol. I was feeling a bit under the weather (aaachoo!!) so I had the Wor Wonton soup and Thai iced tea with boba, both pretty good.

About the service, the Yelpers have it mostly right, there is a smiling lady that greets people she knows by name and comes out from behind the counter to shake their hand. There's also a guy who seems grumpy, I think he was my waiter. I can see how some might think he's grumpy but I think he was just all business. I don't expect anyone with limited English skills to strike up a conversation with me about the weather. However, he did what was most important: he was always there picking up plates, refilling glasses, and attending to our needs without having to wave him down to come to our table.

The prices seem to have gone up as a note taped to all the menus states that they reserve the right to change the price at any time and will keep raising them and you are helpless to do anything about it (or something like that).

Overall was a good experience and I will be going back and maybe, just maybe, the old smiling lady will get to know me by my first name and come out from behind the counter and shake MY hand. One can dream.......

Thanks Tasty Kitchen for a fantastic Christmas dinner with my peeps!! Best wishes for the New Year.... See you soon!!

Great food (yes, tasty!) and friendly service. I haven't explored much of the menu yet, but the few dishes I've sampled have been excellent. I usually do take out, and phone service is friendly, prompt, and food is always ready as promises. I highly recommend this place.

  • *****

Came here based off recommendation from neighbor and was not let down. Fried pork chops were a nice light fried version that didn't feel real greasy. Choose special crispy pan fried noodle was really good as well. Only bummer was that it wasn't Sunday so no duck special with the buns available. Great experience and will definitely come back.

Great food, cheap lunch specials. Freshly prepared, clean.

Atmosphere and service are function oriented.

On a Saturday night, my boyfriend was craving some Chinese food, so we headed to the Tasty Kitchen. At first I wasn't too sure about this place, it's not like it looks shady or anything but I've had bad dining experiences in this plaza. I headed in with some hesitations.

But my hesitations quickly withered away when I saw that the place was actually busy and that the customers look like they had enjoyed their meal. We were seated quickly and were helped in a relatively short time frame. However, like everyone says services is spotty, but when its there its top notch.

We ended up getting the beef and broccoli, the ginger lobster with egg flower soup and rice plus tea all for $38 . All was yummy. Honestly my favorite was the soup, there was just something delicious about the soup maybe it was because I was sick and wanted something warm, but damn that was some good soup.

Overall I would definitely grab take out from here next time. But I wasn't sold on dining in.

Not out of this world food but most def a good place to eat---They are having a lobster special (2 for $21) right now. Since I came alone, I ordered the Seafood Fried Rice w/garlic. It smelt good but unfortunately didnt taste as good.
I've been here another time with my family and we had the chow fun, beef, eggrolls and some veggies. It was pretty good. Decent food decent price. I like the dessert they give you at the end too.
    I wish i could rate this a 3.5 instead :(

  • *****

Best chinese food for the price. As I understand it, the chef comes from the Sea Empress restaurant and is striking out on his own. Results... Good food at a very reasonable price. Mind you, it is NOT a class A place. Great chinese food, low prices, and run of the mill service. You cannot expect a waiter in a bow tie and serving cloth draped over his arm. You may have to wait for your food depending how busy it is and it is busy most of the time.

Jan 20017 : Food is still pretty good here with plenty of dishes to chose from. Prices are a little over the top now. Shame, because for these prices, one would expect better service and a better looking restaurant.

  • *****

This is a specific recommendation review... if you're feeling under the weather and want some good soup, go to Tasty Kitchen, order their plain Congee (Rice Porridge Soup) aka Jook, and it hits the right spot and is affordable.

  • *****

This place has pretty good authentic fresh Chinese food.
The peking duck looks great but I haven't tried it yet.

  • *****

Great littl find, thought it was take out at first. Place is small but sits enough not to be waiting around or having to take out. Tried the Beef Noodle Stew. The broth was nice and beef and tripe were tender and fresh. Could have used some spice, the beef and bach choy were a little lonely in there. Def be back to try some other items on thr menu. Service was friendly place was clean.

  • *****

This is probably the most authentic Chinese restaurant in the area. When I first tried this place, I walked in and saw mostly Chinese eating in there, I had a good feeling that it was going to be good. And I was not disappointed. It's been five years now. Nothing has changed. I enjoyed the consistently delicious food every time I go there.
My favorite dishes are the hot and sour soup, beef with green onion, fish fillet in sizzling pot, lobster and a few on the special Chinese menu. The complimentary dessert is really yummy too.

  • *****

Yummy food and not a terrible price. The staff was very friendly and fast. The only thing that lacked was drink refills. I would still highly recommend. Very good food. We got the pork fried rice and the chicken soft pan fried noodles. It was plenty for the two of us and we even had leftovers.

Tasty Kitchen gives you the real tasty. "Tasty" does not stop at its name. The decor doesnt impress but its good food for good value.

The owner lady is awesome here. She is full of smiles and just.... wow! full of smiles. The kinda smiles that gives people happy butterflies. She is great at hosting and taking care of her customers.

Great flavored Singapore noodles here. My mom got it vegetarian and they did not skimp her on the veggies. A lot of Asian places are stingy and will skimp you on veggies... I dont know why because a few extra piece of snow peas and broccoli will not kill you and your customers will be happy. Anyways, Tasty Kitchen is pretty generous with their ingredients.

Their shrimp egg poured over rice dish is also VERY Delicious and authentic canto style. I think its the Best shrimp egg poured over rice I've had in a long time and that is saying a lot since I frequent Monterey Park a lot and Tasty Kitchen's version of this dish beats the many canto restaurants there.

Tasty Kitchen also serves this amazing house soup that is cooked for hours and hours to get the broth rich in flavor. I'm not sure if its given to every customer or they just gave it to my family but that soup was delicious.

Dinner was complete with their hot dessert soup at no extra charge. Me loooove.

    will Be back.

    I love tasty kitchen!
I have been coming here since before it was tasty kitchen with my parents... I don't remember what it was called before though. My parents come here literally every Friday, it is their favorite.
The customer service is really good. I really like how the staff greets us by our name :)
They're also super quick, you won't wait for longer than 8 mins per plate.

    Now to the good stuff:

My absolute favorite dish is filet of cod with salt and pepper. (I will be uploading a picture with that caption so make sure to search for it). This is basically fried fish with chopped up spicy jalapeo, chopped up garlic (into very small pieces so u almost don't even notice it's garlic) and it also has small rocks of salt. Oh my god you will not be sorry when you order this plate... I loooooooove it!

If you are a lobster lover they also serve that exact plate but instead of fish it's with lobster. Just as good but I always prefer my fish. *also, If you do order the lobster be sure to ask for the special which is two lobsters for the price of one*
Oh and they also do this plate with chicken wings.

The pan fried noddles are taaaasty!
I get them thin, soft and with beef and shrimp. I will also be uploading a picture of this plate.

The fried rice is the best with beef and chicken... My parents and boyfriend love it with BBQ pork too but I don't but it's because I never liked BBQ pork.

They have a fillet of cod with black bean sauce.. It's really good but too saucy so I rarely order it.

Omg the wonton soup is my one of my favorites too... Except that I only get it on cold days or when I'm not in the mood for anything heavy.

They also have boba drinks here, I personally don't like boba but I do order their Delicious Thai tea.

    Hope this was helpful!

Hardcore Chinese Food, West Of The 110

Before you go slamming this place, read that headline again. They didn't open this restaurant to serve white people Chow Mein and Sweet and Sour Pork (though they do offer those dishes). This is all about no-frills, authentic Chinese food. In other words, if you know what to order--even if it's not on the menu--they can probably make it for you.

My favourite dish is the clay-pot fish and tofu. It's a whole fish (tilapia?) that comes out in a sizzling pot, mixed with shiitake mushrooms and delicious fried tofu. So incredibly tasty. Can't go wrong. Just be careful of the bones.

There are so many things I love about this restaurant: Their basic, no-frills decor (just like in the SGV). The way the crew eats dinner at the big round table when it slows down a bit. The odd assortment of weird little nicknacks on display at the counter. And after your meal, they usually offer you a free small dessert, like a refreshing mango pudding.

I don't live that close, and I don't get down here as often as I'd like to. So when I do, I'm always worried that it won't be there anymore. Fortunately, they seem to have a loyal following of Chinese families--and, yes, even the occasional white person, like me.

  • *****

Wow finally a fantastic chinese to go eat at.
It reminds me of the restaurants in Richmond B.C. I had the fish fillet in black bean sauce PERFECT and the salt and pepper prawns great! These are Cantonese trained cooks which are the best. You must go there the older waitress is a little odd but gets the job done . Very very clean .

  • *****

    What we tried:

    Garlic Chicken on Garlic Rice
    String Beans
    Gyoza
    Chinese Broccoli

The chicken was moist and very flavorful. I love garlic so the bits of cooked garlic in the rice was soo good! Way better than the plain rice they serve. Their string beans are crunchy and not greasy, Gyoza is Gyoza (pan fried), and Chinese Broccoli wasn't full of oil but crunchy and fresh tasting (really good with the garlic chicken). Highly recommend you go for lunch and try their 30+ lunch menu items.

  • *****

I ordered Wonton Noodle Soup and Salt & Pepper Shrimp from the lunch menu. They gave me many large shrimps with head-on. It was very good. The Wonton Noodle Soup was so-so. I had to add soy sauce to taste better. The Wonton had shrimp and pork in it.

I would go back to this place again and try other lunch menu. They have a wide variety of lunch menu.

  • *****

This is a Cantonese/Hong Kong style restaurant without Dim Sum. The food is very good in taste, however, on the smaller side for portion. I'm actually a bit haste to give it 4 stars because they are 3.5 in my opinion. Just like typical Cantonese restaurant, service abs foods quality will sightly go down if they are very busy. Unfortunately they are very likely to be busy during normal dining hours.

The other thing is that they offer little hint for ordering. If you aren't familiar with the menu, you might order several dishes with similar flavor, and the server will not remind you. Anyway this is still a pretty nice restaurant with authentic Hong Kong style yummy food.

If you're looking for some quick, tasty and pretty authentic Chinese food then you found your place. Tasty Kitchen is located right next to 99 Ranch in a little plaza - it can be a little hidden but it's fairly spacious inside and apparently a go - to place for lunch. Their lunch specials are super (tons of options that come with rice and soup at a great price). My go to is the string beans with minced pork - I always ask for low on the oil and it is always super tasty and perfectly cooked (I can't stand a mushy green bean). Aside from that, their noodle soups are darn tasty and if there's something on the menu you want but don't see let them know and I'm sure they can whip it up.

Good food + reasonable prices + fast service (no, they aren't going to ask you about your day but that's ok - I'll have too much food stuffed in my face to answer!) = awesome!

  • *****

There isnt a dish i dont like here! THe name says it ALL..the food is so tasty and delicious. The place is cute & brightly lit with natural sunlight. Service is friendly and with a smile. My fave is the beef curry....a must try. Get the roast duck when they have it.

  • *****

    Authentic Chinese food.

The parking sucks cause of the Ranch 99 market. Be careful driving through, crazy Asian drivers not looking where they are going. Good thing is its at the end of the shopping center so you can easily park towards the back of the business.

The service is poor cause partly due to the language barrier. But if you want some good delicious Authentic Chinese food, this is the place. The food is delicious and comes out hot. I suggest go there with a few people and eat family style. Order a bunch of items and you will enjoy it.

In conclusion, poor parking, lame service but great food. Sometimes you have to deal with the crap to get to the goods. They do have some good lunch weekday specials.

  • *****

Cheap and TASTY Chinese food yezzzir!

My boyfriend and I have gone here a few times to grease/fuel up before attacking 99 Ranch Market next door to shop for groceries. You know you need the fuel before venturing into 99, shopping in there hangry is a terrible idea...yannno?

They have special tiered deals with the more expensive plates being more tasty than the peasant dishes beneath them. We also got a bowl of hot and sour soup to hold us over before the actual plates come out. We always get the eggplant and the pan fried noodles. One time we went noodle crazy and also got the black bean noodles before too and they were also yum! Our pit stops run us a little over $20 for the both of us and we're stuffed until later in the day.

The restaurant owners are so nice also. The middle aged guy with glasses coincidentally waits in us every time and I think he gets funnier with every visit. Love this place. This is how a small mom and pop Chinese restaurant should be like, not like at the other place I reviewed earlier...Peter's Place. I'm so bitter.

  • *****

Good price and good food. I love the salt and pepper porkchop and the steamed tilapia. The service is really nice too.

  • *****

Good chinese food at a fair price. Love their dishes. Not your typical chinese food out there. Only downside I see is I wish that they would deliver but its not a big deal.

Love their variety of rice, especially the seafood ones. Highly recommended for those looking for some chinese food but want something a little different.

Quite slow for the afternoon. Only three other tables. Service was quick. Ordered the Beef stew with wonton noodle soup. The beef stew and wontons were tasty however the soup was bland. I'll be back to try their other item.

Why does this place have such low reviews? Was recommended to me by a friend and we LOVED it! Authentic Chinese food and the service was great. The bill was right for us and plus to get good Chinese food in the South Bay???? Praise God!!! Hallelujah!!! :)

  • *****

good place for some casual dinner. we ordered a bunch of stuff, had so many left overs, and still it was really reasonable in price. had some honey walnut shrimp, szechwan pork, hot and sour soup, and then some kind of eggplant dish. the hot and sour soup could have been a bit more sour or hot, but everything else was great. service was good too. they gave us mango pudding on the house.

  • *****

I tried this place for the first time and it will not be the last. The food was incredible, the service super fast and the staff patient, helpful and friendly.

  • *****

    Very Good Authentic Chinese Food
    Price, very reasonable
Service, well it is typical Chinese restaurant service = BADDDDD (that's why it's not 5 star)
The food over rides the service though.
My favorite here is the Beef Stew Noodle Soup (at less than $7 is a bargain)
But everything I've tried here has been good.

  • *****

The food is good, but very expensive. I couldn't believe that an order of bbq pork fried rice and a side of char Siu was $23! What? I know, this is just too expensive. If only 99 Ranch sold this, or we had more Chinese restaurants nearby.

  • *****

Very Traditional Chinese cooking not much American Taste here which I Love everything pretty good and Tasty :)

  • *****

One of those hole in the wall restaurants that serves great food. Small place, several booths, two large round tables and several long tables for large families.
We like the salt and pepper squid and cashew nut chicken which are better than other, nearby restaurants.

  • *****

Good food. Workers are very friendly. I would suggest coming with a group. Their portions are big. I would recommend their fish with black sauce and salt and pepper porkchop. Both very yummy.

  • *****

This places uses crack or something on their food. It is so freakin' good and addictive. Some dishes can be a little oily and non authentic, but never had anything terrible from here. I always order the same thing though: Salt n pepper pork chop and squid, soft chow mein, Bbq pork fried rice. We always take it to go as the place is typical Chinese family owned restaurant where it is not aesthetically appealing or clean. I feel like it is a little expensive to be honest, $50 take out Chinese food for a family of 3, but you get a lot of food too.

I see mixed customers here. Lots of non Chinese, but also a lot of older Chinese folks. The latter tells me that the place is pretty authentic. If a bbq duck is hanging out by the window, that seals the deal for me and know that you are in the right place!

Btw, the "crack" they are using is probably MSG. I don't give a damn if the food is that good! I'll sprinkle it in my water!

  • *****

Their lobster is awesome, actually everything is good here from the noodles to their crispy spicy pork chops!

  • *****

Had the take out, Mabo-Tofu, Beef Chow-fun, Beef and Garden Greens. Everything was great. Good flavor, cooked to perfection. Will definitely go back. I need to try the Beef Stew Wonton Mein, looks good and the other reviews were favorable.

  • *****

I always thought that authentic Cantonese and Chinese cuisine could only be found in Monterey Park, Alhambra, or Diamond Bar.

    Tasty Kitchen proves me wrong.

Authentic in every way, Tasty Kitchen offers traditional Cantonese selection without compromise. The hot-and-sour soup is true to its name. If you can't handle spicy food, you probably shouldn't drink it. It can trigger a coughing attack if you have weak taste buds.

I have tried the beef tendon stew with rice and also with noodle, both are authentic. It's not the best beef noodle I have tried--for those, you have to go to West Covina. But Tasty Kitchen is less than ten minutes from my work, and I can enjoy this degree of authenticity during my lunch break.

The service is pretty authentic too--the servers have a take-it-or-leave-it attitude. No one is rude per se, but not overly friendly like some other restaurants.

The clientele is authentic as well. You will hear mostly Cantonese and Mandarin spoken in the restaurant.

All in all, a gem for a tasty lunch.

  • *****

First time, food is real good and fresh. Definately will come back. Saw that the place was busy. Alot of regulars come here. As the staff knew customers by there name.

Had the wonton noodles and it was almost as if I was back in Hong Kong. My girlfriend got the Curry Chicken and it was delicious. Everything was so good that I ended up ordering a dish to go (BBQ Pork Soft Noodle) and that was good too!

If you've been to Hong Kong or from Hong Kong, you will appreciate this hidden gem. Better than any Cantonese place in Rowland Heights.

I am loving the food at this establishment. The sizzling rice soup is delicious, simple and fresh ingredients, coming back for more !!!

Great friendly service. The menu was overwhelming, it took a while for my mom and I to decide. We will definitely return.

    P.S. The service is quick

This is my favorite place to eat Chinese food in Gardena. The food is consistently good. I order the chef fried rice special and OMG, it's the best fried rice I've ever had.

Try it and you will see what I mean. I dare you!

Newly remodeled restaurant. Cute, pretty and friendly. These cushioned booths and chairs made eating a very pleasant outing. Also, lunch and dinner pricing are very reasonable. Their deli plate as an appetizer is my favorite. Consists of seasoned or pickled cabbage, shredded sea weeds, cucumber, beef shank, etc. Lots of parking even to the back of building. You will be pleasantly delighted.

Tasty Kitchen has long been my favorite choice for gourmet Chinese cuisine. The menu selections are numerous & the food spectacular, thanks to their renowned world class chef. I stopped in here due to I was in the area. When I walked in they greeted me and said for here. I said, no and they gave me a menu to order from. I ordered fried shrimp from appetizers menu and chicken fried rice from regular menu. The gentleman who took order was pleasurable too and had a bit of a sense of humor. He asked, do I want chop sticks or regular fork and spoon. I said, I do not know how to use chop sticks. He said, i will give you both so you can practice.

They cook the food to order so I had to wait for about 15 minutes. As I waited for my order i observed the restaurant and how the staff operates. It is a Chinese restaurant, so it was set up with Chinese decors and a bit of traditional . They had the little tea cups on the table. The waitresses and even the one man I believe that was in charge helped get the food out too the customers.

When my food was ready the lady walked my food over to me with a smile and thanked me.

The shrimp was fried very light. A very nice taste . The chicken fried rice was lighter than I am use to seeing. I believe it may was jasmine rice and it wasn't in all that oil. It was very light and they give you alot of food for the price. The only thing I was disappointed in is that they didn't give me any soy sauce. I could eat the rice without it but when I got home I put some soy sauce on it and ate it even better. They give you so much rice you can have for lunch and save some for dinner.

I've become addicted to this place! Being Chinese, I KNOW Chinese food. I often eat in the 626 area, now I have found a place in the South Bay to help me fulfill my cravings.

Dishes I have tried-- Crispy Chow Mein with Pork, Pork Chops (fried garlic on top is BOMB), Sweet & Sour Pork.

I will have to dry more dishes in the future.

I really like their hot sauce, kind of similar to the Chili garlic (rooster) but it has more zing to it.

Pretty pricey, average dish is about $12-15 :(

We had their salt and pepper shrimp and the beef chow fun. They both were very delicious and authentic. If you like food from Hong Kong, this is a solid little place next to Ranch 99 Market. Service was fast and friendly.

First time trying for lunch carry-out.
I ordered the pan-fried dumplings, and I'm happy to report, they were quite flavourful.
Their Wor Wonton soup is fill of yummy goodness - lots of wontons, sugar snap peas, mushrooms, slices of pork, and carrot.
It's a bit pricey, but well worth it.
I recommend their restaurant as it was very clean inside.

My wife and I went and had the lobster and vegetables dishes. It was very delicious. The new owners asked us to try some of their Tiramisu desserts that the husband is famous for...OMG great Chinese food with tasty and light desserts. A pleasant surprise! Will be back!

From the outside, Tasty Kitchen looks like one of those ubiquitous fast food Chinese restaurants. You know, the ones that have premade food that you can get the 1, 2, or 3 item lunch specials. I found out Tasty Kitchen is not that at all. Tasty Kitchen specializes in Cantonese cooking but has a full menu with a full range of Chinese food from dishes that are usually served at home to standard restaurant fare. So yes for us FOBs they serve salted fish and for the ABCs and westerners, they do serve Sweet and Sour Pork and Kung Pao Chicken. More importantly, I finally found a place in the South Bay that serves Won Ton Noodles the way that I like!

Next time? Mince Beef with creamy egg sauce - good home cooking.

  • *****

Got take out. We got a large box of beef chow fun (). Now, this is one of my FAVORITE Chinese dishes and I've been eating it my whole life, so I was really looking forward to this. It's good, but meh. I'd eat it again, but it didn't leave a lasting impression--I'm not begging to go there again. Would still recommend, though!

Stumbled into this place after a visit to Redondo Pier and a Ranch 99 trip. Family was hungry and we wanted a quick lunch. Didn't expect we'd get San Gabriel quality Chinese food in Gardena. We ordered the lunch specials and they were supersized portions. The eggplant with garlic was as good as I've had in SGV. The special crispy noodles with gravy was as close to Newport Seafood's version. Kids were happy and parents were pleased. We would be back and recommend this place next time anyone has a craving to eat good Chinese.

Delicious authentic Chinese style food. Delicious. The place is clean and not busy. It's a little on the pricy side but you do get a lot of food. My husband and I shared fried rice and dumplings and were stuffed full.

Never ate here - it was always a pick-up order.

The renovations are a nice surprise! Looks much better, much cleaner!

I've had plenty of items on their menu that were quite good: salted fish and chicken fried rice, 3 flavor sizzling rice soup (SO GOOD!), salt and pepper pork chop, crispy garlic chicken YUM, etc... so when I had a taste for wonton soup, I figure I might as well try it here.

Didn't do a phone order since I needed to make a stop at nearby Ranch 99 as well as Daiso anyway.

Put in my order, made my stops at the other places, came back about 10 minutes later and my food was ready.

Took it home - still pretty hot when I got home.

Wontons were good. Pork was nice and soft and NOT DRY. The noodles were a little too firm for my taste, but not bad. The soup could use a bit more flavor, but it isn't bad either.

Discovered their lunch specials are also good on the weekends. (Most places don't make this same offering.)

    Would recommend! Will definitely return!

    Great cantonese food
Excellent cantonese food, even you don't know which dishes are good. You can just order randomly since almost every dish is good. Price is very reasonable. Food is better than many chinese restaurants in Alhambra. Service is good and

This is my favorite Chinese Restaurant in Gardena
Tasty kitchen is located at the very end of the 99 Ranch Market center on Artesia and Normandie. (Slightly hidden behind Burnt Tortilla.) It is pretty small, however getting a table has never been a problem at lunchtime. You can find all of your typical Chinese favorites on the menu and more. What I like most about Tasty Kitchen is that all the dishes and served fast, fresh and piping hot. Fried items are always crispy, never soggy. Veggies are always fresh. All the dishes I've ever eaten here have been really yummy! Lunchtime prices are very reasonable, service is just satisfactory.

    Yum
I give it a great rating because although the place itself seems unattractive the food is beyond amazing delicious! I love the food here a lot. The people are nice and overall it's just really great food.

    Tasty
Tasty Kitchen serves regular Chinese dishes, lunch specials, and also serves select dim sum dishes on the weekends. My kids like eating the Chinese donuts when they have them. Good food and easily accessible! Can get crowded.

    Spicy pork chops
We came for the dim sum but found out that the chef was not in town and we haven't seen dim sum served since. It's still good for the rest of the foods on the menu, especially the spicy pork chops. Not too fatty!
